Hi, my name is Tina Pukini. I have done the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer since 2008 in San Francisco. When I decided to do the Avon Walk in Washington DC in May of 2012, I wanted a different ribbon design on my t-shirts. I wanted to represent Hawaii in our Nation's Capitol, and what better way, than with flowers.
I decided to come up with a ribbon design using the flowers from Hawaii. The pink plumeria was a great start for the Avon Walk. I also thought it would be a good idea to use the yellow plumeria for the Military. Part of the profits from each shirt will go toward a Breast Cancer or Military non-profit agency.
Although I live in San Francisco, California, Hawaii will always be my home. I know I was blessed to be raised in a multi-racial, diverse, and all-inclusive community, surrounded by proud and supportive people.
My niece, Shayna Pukini, gave me a good start with a colorful, classy, beautiful design with the pink and yellow plumeria. I am now working with Terry Earlywine in San Mateo, a graphic designer, recommended by a friend of mine. I am very lucky to be working with Terry, because he has appreciation and respect for the islands, the culture, and the people.
